He was a protégé of Gustav Klimt and associated with the Expressionist movement. Schiele’s work stands out for its distorted forms, and exploration of sexuality, death, and the human psyche. His self-portraits and portraits are particularly striking, filled with vulnerability and psychological depth.

Today, Schiele is considered one of the most important figurative painters of the early 20th century, influencing generations of artists to come.
